I have enjoyed great health at a great age because everyday since I can remember I have consumed a bottle of wine except when I have not felt well. Then I have consumed two bottles. - Bishop of Seville

Post Office

We've two pieces of news...

First & sadly, we're closing the Post Office service from the Blue Bell Inn. It's been something of an altruistic journey hoping to see it cover it's costs & growing the income but we haven’t managed to do that – only averaging just over £100 per month. The final collections day will be next Wednesday 26th July and banking / card facilities will also cease (we will only be able to take cash payments at the bar).

Secondly, the reason we need to close the Post Office is that we are moving on &, all things considered the PO is actually a drain on the business rather than an asset. So the second bit of news to complete this message is that we will be retiring from the Blue Bell Inn so that we can concentrate on Ness to get her to a state of fitness & where she is better able to manage her life-changing medical conditions.

Thank you for the tremendous support given to us over the years. We wish you well for the future & hope that you will continue to support the Blue Bell Inn & the new team as you have us in the past. Their intention is to continue with all of the events (walking, music, etc) as normal.

Our final day at the Blue Bell Inn will be on Sunday 30th July where we will close at 7pm with the doors being reopened by the new team on Wed 2nd at 5pm.

Steve, Ness & Tom

The Blue Bell Inn's Post Office is unique in that it is the first in Wales that will provide daily services over a joint Post Office counter and bar (which will still see the usual beverages partaken after PO hours)!

We will be operating as a Post Office Local (services described on their website www.postoffice.co.uk).  We also have a fine range of organic / fairtrade teas, our own fresh ground 100% organic & fairtrade coffee and an organic / fairtrade hot chocolate.

We want to continue delivering our award-winning service so while we work through our learning curve, we will not be serving alcohol during weekday lunchtimes as we anticipate that these Post Office sessions will be the busiest, we'll review the practicalities of this over the coming weeks (we have started serving from 3pm).

If we can swipe it, bar code read it, or chip and pin it, chances are we can do it!  To help us service you better, please quote our branch number 2514583 with any product you take up on-line at postoffice.co.uk!

PO Opening Hours PDF Print E-mail
Post Office - Post Office Services

tick tockOur opening hours will include the following, but we will always endeavour to help beyond them as practicality allows, you've only got to ask.

Monday           11am to 1pm and 3pm until 8pm (12 till 8pm Bank Holidays)
Tuesday           closed
Wednesday     5pm until 8pm
Thursday         11am to 1pm and 3pm until 8pm
Friday             5pm until 8pm
Saturday         12noon until 8pm
Saturday         12noon until 8pm

The 8pm finish is quite flexible, if we find ourselves in the happy situation we can serve you after 8pm then we will.  For guidence, Most Mondays should be good, Wednesdays may be a little busy around 8pm and 8:30pm in the summer with walkers but after that it should be good.  Thursday and Friday night after 8pm will most likely not be possible to do Post Office.  Most Saturday evenings should be OK and Sundays are always good (excepting the last Sunday before Christmas).

If you want to be sure, ring us on 01352-780309 and we can tell you if we can do it.

Post Office - Post Office Services

altWe are very pleased to be able report that after almost 3 years the Blue Bell Halkyn Post Office opened as a Post Office Local on Thursday 30th January 2014 at 11am.

The Blue Bell Inn's Post Office is unique in that it is the first in Wales that will provide daily services over a joint Post Office counter and bar (which will still see the usual beverages partaken after PO hours)!

A new beer featuring Paul the Postie!altWe had our official opening by Rt Hon David Hanson MP at 2pm on Friday 7th March.  We also had two special beers on too, one with Postie Paul and the other with the Post Office team who made it all happen for us.

We will be operating as a Post Office Local (services described on their website www.postoffice.co.uk).  We will also be planning on selling a range of teapigs teas (currently 15 varieties), our own fresh ground 100% arabica artisan coffees from Flaming Bean and organic hot chocolate.  We want to continue delivering our award-winning service so while we work through our learning curve, we will not be serving alcohol during weekday lunchtimes as we anticipate that these Post Office sessions will be the busiest, we'll review the practicalities of this over the coming weeks.
